The challenge
A visit was made to a DE Risk client in Slough to consider compliance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR).
The client is a large laboratory that uses a range of solvents and creates solvent waste streams. The focus of the DSEAR assessment was upon the suitability of the storage of this solvent and solvent waste. Additionally there were a number of compressed gases that were being stored and these were also surveyed.
The solution provided
A detailed review of all storage facilities for flammable, highly flammable and extremely flammable liquids and gases was undertaken; additionally the suitability of ventilation was also looked at.
From the survey and supported by client feedback and documentary evidence a comprehensive assessment was completed and a report issued to identify hazardous zoning requirements and improvement actions needed.
Further phone support to DSE Risk has helped to clarify a number of questions the client had and ensured that they can move forwards with confidence of complying with DSEAR.
