The Challenge
Process Link of Shipston on Stour required DSEAR assistance in 2018 with the Hazardous Area Classification and specification of equipment for new powder handling equipment for their client JDE in Banbury.
The Solution Provided
Engaging with both the Process Link and JDE teams, the material characteristics, performance and usage envelopes were discussed and from this suggested controls for ventilation and equipment categorisation made. Hazardous Area Classification made and resultant Zones were determined and overlaid on the equipment layouts.
Vendor specifications for the new equipment were reviewed and amendments recommended where necessary.
Verification at site will be carried out once equipment installed but prior to operation, in line with the requirements of DSEAR Regulation 7 Clause 4.
