The challenge
Fiddes Payne, based in Banbury, produce a range of specialist ingredients and as a result handle significant quantities of combustible food powders. In 2016 they required assistance with DSEAR compliance, and MESH were engaged to survey the site and produce a risk assessment.
The solution
Although a compact operation, there were many areas where improvements were identified for storage, handling and processing. A clear report was laid out describing the existing operations and where the risk points were, and how these could be pragmatically solved to gain the company the comfort of a stable DSEAR compliant operational base going forward.
